Professional Fitness Coach
Strength and Fitness Coach
Divine Wekwa is a strength coach and certified personal trainer with over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry and more than 15 years of experience in sports and athletic training. He specializes in strength and athletic development, helping young athletes build the physical qualities they need to perform, compete, and stay resilient throughout their sporting careers.
His approach to athletic development goes beyond simply getting stronger. Training is designed to develop strength, power, speed, agility, coordination, mobility, movement quality, conditioning, and injury resilience in a way that is appropriate for each athlete's age, development, and sport.
Divine believes that young athletes should learn how to train properly before they focus on how much they can lift. His goal is to build strong movement foundations and progressively develop the physical qualities that allow athletes to perform at their best on the ice and continue progressing as they mature.
Through systematic strength and conditioning, athletes learn proper technique, body control, confidence, discipline, and how to train with purpose. The ultimate goal is to help each athlete become stronger, more powerful, more athletic, and better prepared for the demands of their sport.
Divine holds a Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University and has earned the following certifications:
Performance Enhancement Specialist — NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine)
Corrective Exercise Specialist — NASM
Fitness Nutrition Specialist — NASM
Pain-Free Performance Specialist — PPSC (Pain-Free Performance Specialist Certification)
Certified Personal Trainer — BCRPA (BC Recreation and Parks Association)
Functional Movement Screen Level 1 — FMS
His philosophy is simple:
“Develop the athlete, not just the exercise.”
